TROUBLE (2024)

The Calgary Stampede has always been a significant influence on Daring Greatly. Growing up around the excitement and energy of this iconic event, the band has long wanted to write a song that could be played in the rodeo honky tonk tents—an anthem that would get everyone up and dancing. "Trouble" captures this spirit perfectly, embodying the lively, foot-stomping vibe that makes those tents so beloved.

"Trouble" is a dynamic fusion of country and rock, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for storytelling. Initially conceived by Patrick Croome on the acoustic guitar to capture the essence of a country-chicken picker, the song evolved into a high-energy rocker as the creative process unfolded. This transformation reflects the versatility and depth of Daring Greatly's musical style.

The lyrics, collaboratively written by Patrick Croome, Liam Croome, Brayden Tario, Matthew Spatol, and David Mills, delve into the complexities of a night out where you're caught in the middle of a tangled web of attraction. The narrative follows the story of seeing someone who catches your eye, only to realize she's been working the whole room. The vivid storytelling places you right in the midst of the action, witnessing her with another man despite having woken up in her bedroom the night before.

"Trouble" stands as a testament to Daring Greatly's ability to blend genres and create music that resonates with a wide audience. It’s a song that has already become a staple in their live performances, and its studio version captures the same intensity and spirit that fans have come to love.

SOMETHING COMING ON (2024)

This track represents a pivotal moment in our journey as a band, capturing a period of significant change and growth.

Crafted by Liam Croome, "Something Coming On" began as a reflection on anticipation and evolved into a deeper exploration of love and personal connections. The creative process saw this song come to life in the most inspiring settings: the drums, vocals, and acoustic guitars were recorded at David Mills' studio, and the pivotal piano parts at Big Fish Recording Studio in Rancho Santa Fe on a piano previously owned by the legendary Prince, thanks to our friend Jimmy Byrd.

Behind the scenes, Aaron Young, a vital mentor and collaborator to Daring Greatly, took on the role of producer for the first time with us, guiding this track to its completion with expertise and passion.

This song marks a fresh chapter for us, fueled by the fresh energies of all band members and the profound transformations we've experienced. We hope "Something Coming On" resonates with you as deeply as it does with us.

BLAME IT ON THE WHISKEY (2023)

This high-energy rock track is packed with infectious energy and catchy melodies that boast a country flare. The riff and overall structure of the song was brought to the band by newest member, Matt Spatol. Once the band came together, it became something entirely of its own. Liam Croome took control of the vocal melodies and lyrics and a hit was born. This song is the result of months of hard work and collaboration together where we able to record and mix at our home studio (props to David Mills). After months of playing it live, the feeling had to be captured, we knew we had to bring our best. The final product was also mixed by Matt Spatol.

GIRD VALLEY - ALBUM (2022)

Our latest album Gird Valley was recorded in the small town of Fallbrook, at our home located in North San Diego County, California. Recording sessions began in July 2020, when everything remained shut down and we were left with an enormous amount time on our hands. Our house off of Gird Road served as a creative safe haven for the next two years, where we were able to focus on writing and recording music. The natural world served as a constant source of inspiration for the lyrics on this album, as we explored deeper levels of existence within ourselves and our surroundings. The recordings took place in both our living room and bedroom closet, capturing the intimate energy of creating music in a home setting. Overall, Gird Valley is a reflection on finding peace and understanding amidst uncertain times, guided by the beauty and serenity of nature.

LEAVING (2021)

We follow up our 2020 EP with this song that we recorded and produced with our friend and music mentor, Aaron Young, in Calgary in December 2020.
The lyrics frame the feelings of love and heartbreak while honouring the trials and tribulations of a romantic relationship between two artistic souls who have committed their lives to create. Attracted by their dreams and drives, a time will come when an apparent force pushes them apart, and synchronicities that once existed will disappear into the wakes carved by their eternal destiny.

Music by Patrick Croome
Lyrics by Brayden Tario, Liam Croome and Patrick Croome
Produced and Engineered by Aaron Young

Works of Art — Album (2017)

Our second album, 'Works of Art', was funded not only by ourselves, but also by devoted fans across Canada and the United States. The funds were raised through a variety of means, including the raffle prize of the original painting created live at one of our concerts by cousin, Georgina Hawitt.

The album itself is a diverse mix of classic rock, blues, and jazz influences, with tight harmonies and instrumentation showcasing the growth and development of the band since our first album, 'Cornerstones.’

The album received rave reviews from critics and fans alike, with many noting the maturity and sophistication in both our songwriting and musicianship.
